SOLUCALCCONNECT
A wired Ethernet connection
Provide an RJ45 cable and an active network port with access to the local network and the internet. The port must provide the SoluCalc Connect with an IPv4 address, usually through DHCP, along with a working gateway and DNS server.

How the connection works
The device opens a secure connection to the internet. Replies return through that same connection.
Ask your IT team to
Required network rules
Provide wired access
Enable an RJ45 Ethernet port for the device and provide an IPv4 address (DHCP recommended).
Allow internet access
Allow DNS lookups and internet access from the device’s network or VLAN.
Allow outbound traffic
Allow outbound TCP connections to the SoluCalc MQTT broker on port 8883 (secure MQTT/TLS).
Pass TLS through
Allow the TLS session without replacing the server certificate. The device validates the service’s certificate chain.

Resolve the broker hostname
No inbound connection is required. You do not need to open a port from the internet to the device or configure port forwarding. Reply traffic belongs to the outbound connection started by the device.
Do you use an allowlist?
Allow the hostname of the SoluCalc broker configured on your device for outbound TCP on port 8883. The exact hostname can vary with the SoluCalc Connect configuration. Ask your SoluCalc contact for it if your firewall requires a named destination.
Check before installation
Ask your IT team to confirm that a device on the intended VLAN receives an IP address, can resolve DNS names and can establish an outbound TCP connection to the SoluCalc broker on port 8883. Once connected, SoluCalc Connect maintains its link automatically and reconnects if the network interrupts it.
The connection must remain available during use. A proxy that requires interactive web authentication cannot be used for this device connection.
